After 1.5 years of job hunting, Niran realised that he need local accounting experience to apply for a real local accounting position, and right now he utilised our internship experience and has been hired in this position.
We do encourage uni students to start their local accounting experience before they finish their uni studies. It might be more logical to have this experience accumulated before graduation and avoid a career gap on your resume, also this will be more beneficial for your job hunting in your future career as well.
I am so pleased to let you know that I have been offered a job as an 'assistant accountant' in a company and the job will start after two weeks. I am really thankful to Platinum Accounting Melbourne team, Jeff, Yolanda, Humam and Tyna, for thier support during internship, and especially the training program, which provided me the lacking stuff, industry experience, for my job hunt.
Though I had really good academic results from uni, I did not have the confidence in job hunting process as almost every job was asking for some kind of experience. The training and internship program not only boosted my confidence but also provided me the vital skills and knowlege about practicle accounting world.
Once again I want to thank Jeff and Yolanda for being my referees.
As far as the hiring process is concerned, initially there was a short interview with finance manager and the finance controller and then online aptitude test after being shortlisted in the second round. Some of the questions asked in the interview were as follows:
1. Tell me about yourself.
2. Tell me about your previous job.
3. Why is there a gap of 2 years in your resume ( I explained that casually but very honestly)?
4. How come you scored 14 HDs but 1 Credit?
5. How is your excel skills?
6. What's your plan for the future?
7. When are you going to start your CA/CPA?
8. You graduated one and a half year ago and applying for the job now. Seems like you have been applying for jobs for a long time and have not been hired. How would you clearify?
